Dr. Alan Brandt, founder and Director of Technology & Innovation. He has extensive international experience with TMOF having managed its development as a mosquito larvicide, successful registration with the US Environmental Protection Agency, TMOF patent portfolio and negotiating Term Sheet and Exclusive License Agreements with the University of Florida.
Dr. Kamarudin Md. Isa qualified as a veterinary surgeon after obtaining his DVM degree from Agriculture University of Malaysia (now know as University Putra Malaysia) in 1982. Subsequently, he received his Master of Science (Animal Health) with thesis on Serratia marcescens infection in dairy cattle from Washington State University, USA (1994) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Animal Disease) specializing in Equine Herpes Virus Type-4 infection in horses from University Putra Malaysia (2002). He had contributed extensively to the growth of livestock industry, serving in various capacities in the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) Malaysia such as Farm Veterinarian (1982-1983), Veterinarian and Head of Dairy Development Program (1984-1991), Head of Livestock Commodity Development (1994-1996), Deputy Director, Selangor State Veterinary Services (1997-1999), Head of Disease Control Unit (2003-2004), and Acting Director, Epidemiology and Veterinary Biologics Division (2005-2007). At present, he served as Director of Research Division, DVS, Putrajaya. His main responsibilities include managing the on-going operation of Veterinary Research Institute (VRI) besides monitoring on-going research in the field of applied biology which included animal breed and breeding, production system, animal nutrition, feeding system and food safety. Currently, he is also project leader in two contrasting research fields: i) development of recombinant Foot and Mouth Disease vaccine and, ii) development of domesticated swiftlet (Aerodramus f. fuchiphagus) and establishing its husbandry in Malaysia.
Dr. Kamarudin is enthusiastic in the area of disease control and eradication especially on Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI). His noteworthy achievements were include i) successfully in eradicating of HPAI infections in Malaysia (2004, 2006 and 2007) complying to OIE’s Standard, ii) succesfully obtaining OIE’s declaration for FMD Free Zone (Sabah & Sarawak) (2004), iii. EU recognition for rabies free status (2006) and iv) sucessfully eradicating Nipah Virus infection in the State of Selangor (1999). He had presented and published more than 40 papers on this area.
Apart from that, he also actively involved, held and serve several national and international positions such as Chair ASEAN HPAI Taskforce (2004-present), Registrar of the Malaysian Veterinary Council (2006-present), Chair Veterinary Association of Malaysia Scientific Congress (2009), Veterinary Association of Malaysia up-coming President (2010-2012), FAO’s expert team member evaluating FAO-HPAI Participatory Disease Surveillance and Response (PDSR) Program implementation in Indonesia (2009) and Vice-President, SEAFMD Freedom Campaign (2005-2007).
